Mosman is a large suburb covering 9km2 on the lower north shore of Sydney with harbour headlands, bush landscapes & busy roads. Mosman has a great shopping prescient with many cafes & speciality shops.

 

Mosman is home to some great attractions including the world renowned Taronga Zoo, the beautiful Balmoral Beach & the historic Cowder Bay.

 

Mosman has 13 parks covering almost 13% of the total area.  The population as at 2006 was 26,240 with the main age group being 30 - 39 years.  The current medium house price in Mosman is $1,720,000.

 

Did you know...... Mosman was originally inhabited by the the aboriginal tribe 'Borogegal'.  A later leader of this tribe was Bungaree, who joined British explorers on voyages including Matthew Flinders when he was 26.  He was given land at Georges Head and enjoyed the patronage of Governor Lachlan Macquarie.  His image was painted many times and shown in London, Pars & Moscow.


PLACES OF INTEREST

Cowder Bay is a nice area to have a lazy picnic or meal and wonder around the historic buildings with natural bushland setting.

Headland Park is has amazing lookout with magnificent views of the harbour.  You will be amongst lush bush with some interesting sculptures underneath the Sydney red gums.  Georges Head lookout is a stunning vantage point of the harbour. Headland Park has cafes and restaurants in refurbished heritage buildings.  It's a beautiful place to spend the day or an afternoon.

 

Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach walk

Explore the beautiful natural bushland and spectacular views of the Mosman headlands. Wander along some of Sydney's most scenic walking tracks, through former military bases, past historic buildings and along beaches. The walk takes about 2 hours and covers 6kms.  It is also a great track to run with many a jogger keeping one eye on the track and one eye on the beautiful view.

 

Sirius Cove Reserve is the place to bring kids with a playground area and BBQ facilities.  Also dogs are allowed off-leash at certain times.

 

Taronga Zoo is an attraction not to be missed and a must for all kids. What makes this Zoo so spectacular is that it is situated on the Harbour with great views sweeping across to the bridge & opera house.  It is home to over 2900 exotic & native species with free keeper talks, animal shows and a fabulous bird show twice a day.  You can become a 'Zoo Friend' and get unlimited entry into the zoo for an annual fee.... this could be a good option if you plan to go 3 times or more in a year... very easy if you live up the road!

 

Middle Harbour Yacht Club is on The Spit and is on the boarder of Mosman & Northern Beaches.  It is Australia's largest yacht club with great training and development programs.  The Middle Harbour Yacht Club also houses Sydney Harbour Kayaks sales and hire, for an intrepid adventure up Middle Harbour.
