Essential Cleaning Tips

 

After all your furniture and other items have been removed from the property, it’s time to clean. If you’re renting and expecting your bond money back, cleaning is an essential requirement.

 

What do you need to look at when cleaning your property?

You will need to look at all rooms in the house – from top to bottom.  Look closely… are there cobwebs in the corners? Dust of the skirting boards? If you’re honest, some parts around your house will require some heavy-duty elbow grease. Think about the grouting between the tiles in kitchens and bathrooms, or the inside of the oven.

  • Windows are a good accumulator of any type of grime.

  • Your ex-landlord or property manager will be carefully examining the premises after you’ve vacated it and they’re deciding what portion of the bond must be retained to cover cleaning expenses.  Wouldn’t it be good to get all your bond back?

  • Steam cleaning the carpets required when moving out of rental accommodation. Smoothmoves can recommend a good steam cleaner, so give us a call.

  • Wall washing is also likely to be required – especially if you have children. Walls, especially around doorways and high traffic areas are often in need to scrub down.

  • Drapes and blinds are in need of a good clean before moving. Blinds will need to be taken down and cleaned individually. This process takes time so give yourself enough time.

  • You may need to consider washing the exterior walls if in a house. Rubbish removal might also need to be looked at.
