Electricity & Gas connection

From the moment you step into your new home, you want to feel comfortable and settle as quickly as possible. With some forward planning, you can achieve this hassle-free move in with one important issue solved – insuring your electricity & Gas have been properly disconnected and reconnected.

Choosing an energy retailer

It is wise to shop around when looking for a new energy retailer. Prices may vary depending on where you are moving and the energy retailer. They may offer a range of plans and special discounts. Check if there are any ongoing loyalty programs, rebates or added incentives.

Go Green

Alternately if you wish to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions and help the environment, choose from a range green energy products, such as Government accredited GreenPower or Green Gas. To find out more, call the energy retailer and speak to a consultant as this way you can be confident to find a plan that suits your budget and lifestyle.

The simple way to get connected

Call the energy retailer at least three business days before you move. You will need to provide your new supply address, telephone number and ID (for example, driver licence) so make sure you have these details handy. Ask the energy provider to confirm how long it will take to connect the services you require.

Remember to have a think about what date you want your current household disconnected as you will need power for any household appliances on moving day and even after you move out. This could be for cleaning the carpets with the vacuum and scrubbing surfaces with hot water.

If you choose to continue with your existing energy provider with a specific plan, talk to your energy provider and check if it OK to continue with your plan at your new address.
